Vaccines that protect your dog or cat from infectious diseases are important to get when they are still kittens and puppies. These vaccines help to protect your pet from developing various illnesses and often they are given in a series of injections. Rabies is one of the most well-known diseases that can be prevented. The rabies vaccine is one of the required shots as this infectious disease has no cure. Other common diseases include distemper, parvovirus, and leptospirosis, as well as kennel cough (Bordetella). It’s important to vaccinate your pet against these serious diseases and to remain current on your pet’s booster shots.

Both dogs and cats get internal parasitic worms through the food they eat, their environment and from insect bites. The vet can test and prescribe medications or injections to treat these parasites.
